FAQs / Help

Are the gardens accessible?

We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to enjoy the Herb Gardens at Kilgraney House. Most of the gardens are accessible by using an alternative route, however, some buildings and areas of the garden have limited accessibility. Accessibility requirements vary from person to person, so for an outline of what to expect before you arrive, when you arrive and during your visit, please call Bryan on 059 9775283.

Are children welcome?

We regret the gardens are unsuitable for children. Safety is a primary concern. Whilst we think of herbs as healing plants you must realise that several herbs are, in fact, very toxic.

Are we allowed to bring our dogs?

For the safety of all our visitors, dogs are not allowed in the garden, with the exception of registered support dogs.

Are large groups welcome?

Yes, with advance notice and if there is availability for the date/time required. You may wish to include the Herb Gardens at Kilgraney House as part of a day tour of the Carlow Garden Trail. Whatever your plans, we highly recommend a 40-minute guided tour to show you what is looking its best, and inspire you with behind-the-scenes knowledge of the Herb Gardens at Kilgraney House. Please call Bryan on 059 9775283 for more information and to arrange your exclusive group visit.

What should I wear?

Dressing for Irish weather conditions is advisable. Sometimes the tracks and paths can be muddy, steep and uneven, so please wear suitable footwear and take care during your visit.

Are there seasonal events in the gardens?

Are there plans to hold workshops?

Yes, we plan to host a number of craft and garden-themed workshops during the 2023 season. Details will be posted on our website.
